IRDF speaks up on pork barrel issue

pork“The process of giving funds and not the NGO sector should be tightened up by the government.” – IRDF

The Integrated Rural Development Foundation of the Philippines (IRDF), a national NGO, is urging the government not to put the burden on NGOs when it comes to the pork barrel issue. This is in response with the Malacañang’s move to tighten up on giving funds to any NGO. Even other agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) also expressed their intention to be strict on the accreditation and monitoring of NGOs.

According to IRDF, there are still other legal NGOs which carry good intentions. The group insisted that the NGO sector should not suffer because of the pork barrel scam of the alleged mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles. Instead of imposing a hard hand on NGOs, IRDF suggested that the government should be strict on giving funds per se may it be from the pork barrel or from regular funds by the local and national government.
