Trade Advocacy Group (TAG)

Formed on May 13 of this year, TAG was envisioned to serve as a temporary mechanism for coordinating efforts of organizations and coalitions in relation to the campaign and advocacy on fair trade especially during the period right before the WTO’s 6th MC in Hong Kong in December. The group met regularly to coordinate efforts, analyze developments and come up with collective actions based on developments. TAG formed the WFD committee which led in the weeklong WFD commemoration in October. Furthermore, TAG collectively monitored developments in relation to the MC-6. Campaign plans have been drawn out both in Hong Kong and in the Philippines especially while the 6th MC will be going on in Hong Kong.
 

Freedom from Debt Coalition (FDC)

Screen_shot_2011-03-16_at_1.13.15_PMThe Freedom from Debt Coalition (FDC) – Philippines is a nationwide multi-sectoral coalition conducting advocacy work in the national, local and international arenas, to realize a common framework and agenda for economic development.

The main task of the Coalition is advocacy, which is the process of promoting alternatives and working for change in policies, programs, structures and relations.

The Coalition is composed of different organizations and concerned individuals from various sectors.

 

Stop the New Round! Coalition

SNR is composed of some 40 national organizations as well as networks and alliances. All throughout the year, it spearheaded a nationwide campaign against a new round of trade negotiations at the 6th Ministerial Conference of the WTO in Hong Kong. With such a tall objective, the coalition remained vigilant on various developments and movements especially among powerful countries like the US and EU which can bring out further detrimental effects on poor and developing countries like the Philippines.

 

Rice Watch and Action Network (RWAN)

Our bias is on small farmers and the improvement of their living conditions as well as promoting sustainable and equitable systems and arrangements towards a sustainable development.

This is a network that aims to strengthen existing initiatives of individual member organizations towards the same end. Read More

GCAPlogoThe Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) is a growing alliance that brings together trade unions, INGOs, the women’s and youth movements, community and faith groups and others to call for action from world leaders in the global North and South to meet their promises to end poverty and inequality. GCAP's main aim is to achieve policy and practice changes that will improve the lives of people living in poverty. GCAP adds to existing campaigning on poverty by forming diverse, inclusive national platforms that are able to open up civil society space and advocate more effectively than individual organisations would be able to do on their own. It also organises global mass mobilisations that express solidarity between the global North and South, allow tens of millions of ordinary people to make their voices heard and bring pressure to bear on world leaders.
