Community Climate Resilience, Disaster Preparedness and Recovery

IRDF works with communities to reduce disaster risks, prepare for emergencies and recover livelihoods after climate-related shocks. The program links community preparedness and local planning with longer-term measures such as agroecology, diversified livelihoods, soil and water conservation, and climate-resilient farming. IRDF’s earlier disaster-risk work in Sorsogon included community training, support for barangay contingency planning and demonstrations of organic agriculture. More recent climate-smart farming activities, including coconut farmer training in Mindanao, and the Adaptation and Mitigation in Agriculture (AMIA) show how practical farm adaptation can complement community preparedness and recovery.
