Women’s Leadership, Rights and Economic Empowerment
IRDF supports women farmers and rural women to strengthen their leadership, income, independence and voice in their organizations and communities. Activities include organizational development, financial and entrepreneurial skills, access to livelihood opportunities, and stronger participation in cooperative management and community governance. In IRDF project areas, women farmer-leaders have advanced diversified farming, farm planning and enterprise development through their own initiatives and participation in farmer organizations. The Coconut Resiliency Project, Upscaling Agro-ecology, and Coconut Husk Processing Social Enterprise also placed women’s participation and leadership within its work to build stronger farmer organizations and more resilient livelihoods.
