Agroecology, Climate-Resilient Farming and Food Sovereignty

IRDF promotes farming systems that protect soil, water and biodiversity while helping small farmers improve production and household food security. The program supports agroecology, organic and climate-resilient practices, diversified farms, farmer-to-farmer learning and stronger local food systems. Examples include the agroecology-based rice farming work in Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes and Mindanao; the Coconut Resiliency Project’s support for sustainable coconut farming, and climate-smart agriculture training with coconut and rice farmers. IRDF’s work on rice intensification and coconut intercropping also connects practical farm improvements with the wider goal of strengthening Philippine food sovereignty.
